Страница релиза: Para Leila Khaled - A revolução do jardim | vk
A Revolucao do Jardim (The Garden Revolution) is my very first attempt to record the early Para Leila Khaled sounds. It was (poorly) recorded during an art residency in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in an old colonial farm. The stables were used as an studio. Today Para Leila Khaled sounds far more arab than it sounds on the record, wich i guess ended up being more minor-asia or persian influenced, greek maybe. After recording it i composed 3 sound collages to go with it. It is my demo record, very lo-fi and amateur sounding, i was still trying to find my way with the scales,
rhythms and the buzuq itself. The name “the garden revolution” was given since i was reading the book “Shah of Shahs” by the polish journalist Ryszard Kapuscinski about the Iranian Revolution, in some point of the book he compares the persian rug with some kind of “gardens for the desert”, an portable garden that can endure anything. This is an naive record. |
